About the Course
This class is built around Beast Academy, with a gentle bridge towards AoPS later on. It is ideal for roughly Grades 2–5 (sometimes 6) and for families who want something deeper and more interesting than standard school work.
Beast Academy is colourful and funny, but it also builds serious skills: strong number sense, careful reading, early algebraic thinking, and the habit of sticking with non-routine problems. For students who later move to AoPS Prealgebra and the Intro books, having completed Beast (especially Levels 4–5) makes the transition much smoother.
This class works well for:
- Younger students who are ahead and need more challenge
- Homeschoolers using Beast as a main curriculum
- Children whose parents want them to enjoy maths while building real depth
How This Course Works
Most lessons start by opening the student's Beast Academy Online account. We look at the topics and puzzles they've been working on, revisit any problems that were confusing, and then move on to new lessons, puzzles, and challenges together.
If the student also has the Practice books, we bring in questions they circled, skipped, or weren't sure about. Class time is for the interesting parts: untangling hard problems, trying different ideas, and noticing the clever tricks Beast is teaching. It feels more like playing with maths than doing another worksheet.
Between lessons, students keep working in short bursts in their own Beast accounts. At the next session, we see what they've done, sort out the hard parts, and unlock the next set of topics and levels.
