Day-to-day support and deeper challenge for IB MYP Years 1–5, including task and eAssessment preparation.
Book a free intro session →This class supports students in IB MYP Mathematics across Years 1 through 5. The work spans a wide range — from building secure foundations in fractions, algebra, and geometry to preparing for on-screen assessments and eAssessments at the end of MYP. The aim is to connect what's happening in school with the kind of thinking, reasoning, and communication MYP actually expects.
MYP is unusual in how it assesses mathematics. Beyond getting answers right, students are asked to investigate patterns, communicate clearly in writing, and apply mathematics to real situations. We pay attention to all of this — not just the topic content, but the criteria-based skills that MYP tasks are built around.
Most lessons start from what the student currently has in front of them — recent classwork, homework, an upcoming test, or a task or eAssessment in preparation. We work through the underlying ideas, not only the steps, and use the time to clear up confusion that often hides under apparent fluency.
For students preparing for end-of-MYP eAssessments, we also look at the typical question formats and the kind of written communication examiners expect. Solutions need to be readable, complete, and reasoned — not just correct.
When it fits, we bring in richer problems and open-ended tasks that go beyond what school covers. For students at the younger MYP years (especially Years 1–3), Beast Academy can work well alongside school content as an additional source of problem-solving practice. The balance is tuned to the student: some students need to feel solid before going further; others are ready to be challenged earlier. Either is fine — the course shape depends on the student.
We track what's been covered, which criteria areas the student is strong or weak in, and share brief feedback with parents around important assessments.
